About Team USA: Pankration is an Ancient Greek form of martial arts which combines wrestling and boxing. Its name derives from the ancient Greek word pan (all) and kratos (strength, might, power) and literally means "all of the might." Pankration is considered to be one of the most demanding fighting systems ever. Team USA preserves the integrity of the ancient sport, by honoring its systems. Team USA gives well-deserving practitioners of pankration the honor of representing the United States at the World Games and the chance to become world champions. In everyday life and in everything they do. They live their values- integrity, fortitude, accountability, teamwork, and with honor.
About the women’s team: This year they have 4 athletes competing the in Polydamas division of the Pankration world championships in Romania in October. This is a “routines” competition where the team will create a show fighting routine that uses a variety of pankration attacks and defensive moves with different weapons. On this years polydamas team they have 4 lifelong martial artists who will be traveling to Romania to compete in the world championships:
Team Captain Jenae Noonan, sisters Jehan Izhar and Zohra Wolters, and Lauren Manzano . The Team is currently seeking fundraising opportunities and will be offering free self defense classes in downtown Pomona.
You can come meet them at Pomona ARTWalk on 2nd Saturdays from 6-9pm. And check Team USA on the Instagram @teamusafpa.
