Heart Journal Entry #224 Million

Native American Flute

I journal nearly everyday, just not with words.

I journal through song. And I have finally written something, I feel like sharing. My flute is tuned for the heart at 432Hz. To me I feel like that means I should play from my heart. I like to make up songs. I’ve done that since I was very small. I used to listen to Mozart and Beethoven, and secretly wanted to compose music like them. I felt like the birds taught me how to make up songs and melody, and I tried to sing songs with them. When I was around 10 my parents gave my a synthesizer and I composed music all day. I’m definitely not saying it was good, but it’s something I enjoyed on my own. Same for playing cello. I don’t really feel like it has ever been good enough to share. But, I cried when I did my journal entry the other day. I played it a second time and decided to record it about an hour later. I lost some of the song, I can still hear it. I will find it again. I usually do, with practice. Or, maybe that part of the story was just for me. I felt like I finally expressed what I needed to and couldn’t put into words, it was an excellent way to send my love into the world.

Everything has a song to me. I’m sure lots of people feel that way and can hear the music, otherwise there wouldn’t be musicians with trashcan lids, car horns, and stomping feet.

I don’t really know what journal entry number this is, so 224 Million. (I bet you thought I would pick something like 222.) Well, I took a Native American flute class in 2015 or 16 with Steven Rushingwind, and he taught us that playing the Native American flute is to freely tell the story you feel, and to journal daily. Journaling is telling your story through song. They don’t have to last a specific duration, it’s just important to play. So, this piece is shorter because it’s missing parts of the story and it’s just me having fun. I still feel like sharing and hope you enjoy it.
