Collective Revolution for Feminist Creators

The Collective with Mary Camarillo

The Collective welcome's author and feminist, Mary Camarillo. We chat about what prevents us from change and creating, as well as what inspire creation and change. We ask questions like: Is writer's block even real? As women, why do we try to change ourselves? What's wrong with getting older? And so much more.

Mary Camarillo is the author of two award-winning novels: “Those People Behind Us” and "The Lockhart Women." Her poems and short fiction have appeared in publications and anthologies such as the California Writer’s Club Literary Anthology, Inlandia, 166 Palms, The Ear, and the Sonora Review. Mary lives in Huntington Beach, California with her husband who plays ukulele and their terrorist cat, Riley, who makes frequent appearances on Instagram and on Substack at Life With Riley | Mary Camarillo | Substack

We are all apart of the collective. It is not a special group or community out of anyone’s reach. The trees, the earth, the plants, the insects, the animals, and humans are all apart of the collective. We each have something to give to the world and our communities around us. It’s in knowing how to care for the ones we love, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. It is all self-care. Community care is self-care. And together we are more than community, we are like the stars singing in the sky. We are music and our voices are the hum of the universe. Because we are of the earth and things of stars, and so is every thing on this earth.

Thank you for listening in on the conversation. I hope that we can all come together to create positive change. May this only be a beginning towards healing.
